The Light Duty experience is a 'must do' - get a taste of what the Jammies and Mission endured! For most the finish at Fort Mission in Dullstroom might seem closer than what it really is and even the Light Duties will have to dig deep to finish their three quarter marathon distrance events.
The Light Duty routes will take mountain bikers and trail runners on marked routes from the single tracks at Dullstroom to the unique wetlands of Verlorenvallei and Highland Gate area to countless trout ponds, through pine and natural forests, .
The Civvy races are the entry level events that cater for beginners, novices, friends and family, the young and everybody else that want to participate and support the Recce Races. Time is not of the essence - share in the experience on a section of the routes used by all other events!
The Civvie routes are marked and mountain bikers and trail runners will explore the nearby forests, trout ponds and Crocodile river in the vicinity on Dullstroom. No technical sections, limited elevation gain - only fun for the short distance runner or mountain biker.
‘Light Duty’ is the terminology used when Special Forces soldiers are injured or incapacitated and cannot report for active duty for a period of time to perform certain aspects of their military duties.
A 'Civvy' refers to ex-military personnel than joined civilian life after having served in the forces.
